Clinic Office Specialist - FT - Days - Oncology NursingDHR Health - US:TX:Edinburg - DaysSummary:MISSION STATEMENT:Our Mission is to improve the well-being of those we serve with a commitment to excellence: every patient, every encounter, every time.VISION:Our Vision is to create a world-class health system to advance medicine and increase access for the communities we serve by empowering caregivers to heal through compassion, knowledge, innovation, integrated care and excellence.POSITION SUMMARY:The Clinic Office Specialist is a key member of the Physician Practice and provides clinical/administrative expertise to ensure all patients receive high quality, efficient care.POSITION EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:High School/GED, preferredMOS Certificate, preferredBilingual – English/Spanish, requiredJOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:Minimum of two (2) years receptionist experience requiredPrevious experience in a busy medical office setting is preferredMedical terminology experience/education, preferred.Billing and insurance verification knowledge preferredExcellent customer service and interpersonal skillsComputer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suiteGood written and verbal communication skills requiredPrevious experience in a teaching facility preferredAbility to use and learn EMR and practice management softwareResponsibilities:POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:Working front desk, greet patients and visitors; be courteous, polite and helpful to the public, patients and clients at all times when representing the practice, providing excellent customer serviceGreet patients to the practice in a warm and friendly mannerRespect and maintain privacy and dignity of patients; assure confidentiality at all timesWorking at the reception desk, checking patients both in and out of the practice as needed, and properly documenting registrationRegister patient with proper insurance informationAbility to answer and direct all phone calls appropriately received in a busy office practice maintaining the customer service skills as set forth by Renaissance Medical FoundationAbility to take accurate and understandable messages and route them to the appropriate party as necessaryMake appointments for new and established patientsNote cancelled and rescheduled appointments through prescribed protocols set up by the officeFile faxed/scanned information in charts for review by provider, if neededProficient use of Lobby software (process improvement tool) for patient throughput and patient satisfactionCommunicating with patients, team members and providersScheduling, canceling, and rescheduling patient appointments and reporting dataRunning reports as neededReminding patients of upcoming appointments and tracking missed appointmentsForwarding telephone calls appropriately and following up on return callsInsurance verification, authorization and verification of patient demographics for entry into computer systemRetrieving and filing of medical records and delivering to appropriate providers as neededOther copying, filing, scanning and faxing dutiesCollecting co-pays and cash from patients, getting authorization on credit cardsEntering charges, payments, and daily balancing, as neededPrepare and scan packets needed for billing company as neededSubmitting orders for clearancesEnd of month closingOther duties as assignedLINES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:(Chain-of-command)1. All employees are required to attend the DHR C.A.R.E.S program which outlines the Customer Service Principals including: Commitment, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Service.AGE SPECIFIC:Employees must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age.AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT: (ADA):A. Working Conditions : The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.D.
