Interventional Radiology Technologist

Job Summary:


The Interventional Radiology/Cardiology Technologist is responsible for assisting providers during diagnostic and interventional radiology and cardiology procedures, primarily focusing on interventional radiology (90%). This role involves scrubbing and circulating in IR/Cath Lab procedures, telemetry monitoring, and supporting adult and geriatric patients with complex cardiovascular devices. The technologist works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced, specialized environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist providers during diagnostic and interventional radiology and cardiology procedures.
• Scrub and circulate in IR and cardiology catheterization lab procedures.
• Perform telemetry monitoring during procedures.
• Support patients with implantable devices such as pacemakers and ICDs.
• Operate and maintain specialized equipment including GE MAC Lab, Philips iFR/IVUS, Canon and GE Labs, Angio Jet, Pneumbra, EKOS, Inari, CSI Atherectomy System, Bovi Plasma Blade Cutter, Radiofrequency Ablation Unit, Venous Closure Unit, Sono Site, S2000 Ultrasound Unit, IABP, and Impella.
• Adhere to safety protocols and sterile techniques throughout procedures.
• Collaborate closely with RNs and other team members; medication administration is performed exclusively by RNs.
• Attend required training and unit orientation sessions.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology (IR) with 90% IR focus.
• Certification in ACLS and BCLS.
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification.
• Proficiency in scrubbing, circulating, and telemetry monitoring.
• Ability to respond to urgent/emergent cardiology and interventional radiology procedures with a callback time of 30 minutes for STEMIs.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced ARRT certification.
• RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) certification.
• Experience performing EKG lead placement.

Special Considerations:

• RTO (Return to Office) after booking is not allowed and cannot be worked out onsite.
• Call-off or additional RTO on unit may result in cancellation and Do Not Rehire status.
• Technologists start directly on the unit on Mondays until completion of Dimensions training.
• Call requirement: minimum 7 call days per month, typically two call days per week for two weeks and one call weekend per month.
• Call team consists of three staff members, including one RN.
• Callback time: 30 minutes for STEMI; IR callback time varies by procedure type.
• No float requirement.
• Weekend requirement: Every third weekend.
• No holiday RTO allowed for this role.
• Scrubs are provided.

Scheduling:

• 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts from 07:30 to 16:00.
• Contracts accepted for 13 to 20 weeks.
• Scheduling is per unit needs.
