Clinical Social Worker Supervisor

Job Description This position works within the Citywide Stabilization Program which is comprised of the Stabilization Team, Assisted Outpatient Treatment Team (AOT), PES Linkage Team, and CARE Court Team (CARE). These programs provide intensive case management to adults with mental illness, substance use, houselessness, criminal-legal Involvement, Chronic Medical Conditions. And Other Vulnerabilities. Under the supervision of the Director of Citywide Stabilization, the Clinical Social Work Supervisor provides clinical supervision and oversight of Clinical Social Worker I/II/III and Community Health Program staff within the Citywide Stabilization Programs, primarily for AOT, CARE, and Stabilization, covering other programs as needed. Supervision of staff includes providing training and ongoing oversight of billing, charting, as well as quality and efficacy of clinical services. Duties of this position include: recruiting, training, and evaluating staff (including initiating disciplinary proceedings as needed), leading team meetings, presenting for community partners and at conferences, collecting data for audits, helping with annual reports and program development, participating in Citywide Leadership Team Meetings, and completing other activities as needed. Supervisor will provide direct service delivery based on the needs of the program, including ongoing mental health services including psychotherapy, assessment, crisis intervention, case management, and outreach to the clients wherever they may reside. This program will remain flexible in the service delivery and responsiveness of the needs of the community mental health system within DPH. Department Overview The Division of Citywide Case Management Programs at UCSF/ZSFG, Department of Psychiatry is located at 1263 Mission Street, San Francisco. The Division provides comprehensive outpatient treatment to those suffering from severe mental illness, often complicated by homelessness, chronic traumatization, institutionalization, substance use disorder and chronic medical conditions. The mission of the Division is to help clients recover prior functioning, while reducing reliance on acute services, and facilitate transitions from ZSFG psychiatric inpatient, jails, or other institutions to the community. Our programs serve a diverse group of individuals, in terms of social, cultural, and linguistic characteristics; and is structured around interdisciplinary teams. Interventions provided include psychotherapy, crisis intervention, psychotropic medication management, case management, outreach, and employment services. Qualifications Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or related field from an accredited University University and five years of related work experience including three in a lead/supervisory role or an equivalent combination of education and experience; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position Licensure as a LCSW or MFT from the Board of Behavioral Sciences Examiner Two years of experience doing community-based case management and the ability to do outreach to resident units. Two years of experience working with individuals actively involved in the civil courts system Two years working with severely mentally ill adults, the homeless and dual diagnosed populations Three year supervisory or leadership experience Ability to ensure patient care service standards are consistently met; assists staff with managing challenging patient interactions with sensitivity and skill. Ability to work with clients and program staff from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others. Ability to work in a high stress, high volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately; detail oriented. Able to efficiently prepare written summaries of activities, set priorities and complete reports within required time frames. Knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with populations that is diverse in gender, sexual orientation, and ethnicity Knowledge of psychiatric service operations and ability to apply concepts in an acute care setting Preferred Qualifications Licensed for two years and able to sign hours for Associate Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapy Interns Knowledge of medical center, HR and UC policies and processes.
