Warehouse Team Lead

The purpose of this role is to work with fellow coworkers to assist them in training and growing with the company; as well as working with new hires to complete their requirements for the Warehouse Level 1 position. This role requires learning all positions within the entire Warehouse. Position Summary Maintains performance of warehouse operations within a specified zone including, adherence to the highest level of safety and housekeeping, commitment to employee technical training, focus or order processing accuracy, coordination of order and material flow, achievement of productivity goals and proactive involvement in identification of employee issues and communicating them in a timely manner. Must effectively communicate expectations with assigned team members and coach for success. Works hands on to push order flow and to remove bottlenecks. Essential job functions and responsibilities Participate in safety programs, comply with safety rules and set “safety first” tone for self and team Train employees to follow standard work / SOP’s Ensure workplace is always organized and clean (clean as you go) Communicate openly and respectfully with assigned team to increase engagement Participate in the Interview process for new co-workers and provide input into co-worker performance evaluations Ensure tools, materials and equipment used in assigned zone is ready for the shift Supports communication process for shift start and weekly team meetings Address basic performance issues and escalates to management when coaching doesn’t produce change in behavior Must comply with and promote compliance with HR policy including (attendance, general work rules, respect in the workplace and respect for workplace diversity) Key personal attributes Must possess a work style that blends operational excellence, customer satisfaction and teamwork consistent with a high-performance culture. Must be able to communicate clearly in English both verbally and in writing. Must be able to work with computers, scanners and material handling equipment. Experience/Education High School diploma or GED Must have basic computer skills. Must have at least (1) year of experience working in a high volume/variation Distribution or Manufacturing environment. Must be accustomed to an environment where attainment of goals, improvement of skills is normal. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, reach, and climb a ladder for most of the shift to perform job duties accurately.
