Job Title: PCU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medicine Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience License: Current RN License issued by the state board of nursing or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC) Certifications: Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association Must-Have: MS/SD experience; ICU experience preferred; ACLS certification Description: Under general supervision, provides nursing care in a hospital to a variety of patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex. Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients. Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments. Observes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients. Assists physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatments. Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients and intervenes when necessary. Administers medication as prescribed. Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products. Delivers patient care competently. Interacts with families and patients in sharing care plans while in the hospital and at the time of discharge. Informs patients and families of hospital procedures. Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel. Delegates tasks to support staff. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures is required. Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services is essential. Maintains good working relationships with other employees. Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills. Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors. Some computer skills are necessary. An Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program is required. A Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing is preferred.
