Overview The Sport Operations and Equipment Manager is responsible for coordinating, managing, and executing sport operations and equipment services for Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Athletics, Physical Education, and Recreation. The position provides operational leadership and administrative oversight in game and event management, facility and competition operations, equipment services, inventory control, purchasing coordination, laundry operations, and student worker supervision. Duties and Responsibilities Sport Operations (50%) : Direct and coordinate all aspects of game day operations, event management, and venue staging for athletic contests, championships, camps, and special events; execute event management policies; assist in the development of event plans; train, schedule, and supervise student workers and operations staff; coordinate operational logistics for home competitions; serve as the primary liaison for visiting teams, officials, vendors; monitor field and facility conditions; ensure compliance with NCAA, SCIAC, institutional policies; inspect operational and competition areas; evaluate and respond to event and facility-related issues; assist with facility operations, including field lining and arena conversions. Equipment Management (50%) : Manage daily operations of athletics equipment rooms; coordinate equipment issuance, collection, maintenance, repair, storage, and inventory; prepare equipment for practices, competitions, team travel, camps; maintain inventory records; assist with purchasing coordination, vendor communication, budget tracking; oversee laundry operations; ensure athletic apparel and equipment are maintained to standards; monitor usage and recommend replacements; maintain organized storage; coordinate equipment support for visiting teams; oversee and mentor student workers; maintain compliance with safety standards; support long‑range planning related to equipment systems and efficiency. Qualifications Education: A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience: Minimum two years in collegiate athletics with experience in athletic operations, event management, equipment operations, coaching, or related responsibilities; preference for experience supporting NCAA game operations and football equipment. Licenses & Certifications: Valid driver’s license; Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire); AEMA certification preferred or to be attained within the first 12 months. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Independent decision‑making; strong organizational, administrative, problem‑solving, and interpersonal skills; proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to maintain accurate records; ability to supervise student employees; ability to work independently and collaboratively; ability to meet tight deadlines; commitment to the educational mission of the Claremont Colleges. Required Hours Full‑time position with flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel. The role includes one designated month off annually, either June or July. Salary and Benefits Salary: $64,454.71 - $66,000.00 per year.
