Position Summary

Machinists are responsible for setting up and operating a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision metal parts that meet customer requirements. The machinist will utilize knowledge of machining techniques, tooling, speeds & feeds, and metallurgy to perform their tasks. Position could include CNC or controller based programming.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Keeping machines and work areas clean

• Topping off any oils & coolant tanks

• Return tooling when not in use

• Layout major boundaries for 1st piece

• Look for areas to improve setup rigidity and shorten setup times on multiple parts

• Change speeds and feeds for optimal use of tools

• Measure and inspect any and all features you have affected

• Look ahead to gather and setup tools that will be needed for the next operation

• Study drawings & programs to improve next setup efficiency

• Deburr all parts and features you machine while another part is running if possible

• Cleaning your parts and storing to prevent damage

• Maintaining material ID through our tagging system

• Returning programs & special tooling when job is finished

• Maintaining an accurate shift change log

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Formal Education and Experience Requirements

• Associates degree in a technical field preferred

• 3 plus years of relevant experience

• Highschool diploma

• Blueprint reading

• Knowledge of GD&T

• Motivated, quick start, positive attitude

• Ability to effectively communicate issues in a timely manner

• Basic computer skills

• Ability to work in a team environment and independently

• Knowledge of G-Code

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
