Travel RN - Med/Surg

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night-shift Med/Surg travel position in Birmingham, AL, requiring a minimum of 2 years of med/surg experience and an AL or compact RN license.

Job Details

• Position is located on a 30-bed Med/Surg unit (4 West) within a large, accredited hospital setting,
• Patient population includes general med/surg and post-operative surgery patients,
• Patient ratio is 6:1,
• Schedule is 3x12-hour night shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM,
• Every other weekend is required,
• No on-call requirements,
• Floating may be required based on house staffing needs,
• EMR system is Cerner,
• 13-week contract,

Job Requirements

• Active AL RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration - no hits on license accepted,
• Current AHA-issued BLS and NIHSS certifications required (American Red Cross certifications are not accepted),
• Minimum 2 years of recent med/surg experience required,
• Experience with orthopedic and post-operative patient care required,
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position,

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to med/surg and post-operative patients on a busy inpatient unit,
• Strong time management skills and a compassionate, team-oriented approach are highly valued,
• Navy scrubs are required,
• Artificial nails (fake, gel, dip) and long nails are not permitted; earbuds/earphones are also prohibited,
• All AHA certifications must not be expired or expiring within 30 days of the start date; proof of enrollment in a renewal class may be accepted,
• The facility is a Joint Commission-accredited, 595-bed comprehensive healthcare facility recognized for stroke care, cardiovascular services, bariatric surgery, rehabilitation, and more
