Tool & Die MakerAstronics SubsidiaryLocation: Clackamas, OregonDescription: PECO-Astronics, located in Clackamas, Oregon, designs and manufactures highly engineered commercial aerospace interior components and systems for the aerospace industry. We specialize in Passenger Service Units (PSUs) which incorporate air handling, emergency oxygen, electrical power management and cabin lighting systems. We also manufacture a wide range of fuel tank access doors that meet stringent strength, fuel sealing and anti-corrosion requirements.We are seeking to add an Experienced Tool & Die Maker to our great team. The purpose of this position is to keep tooling operable and provide the necessary repairs, modifications and construction of molds, dies, tooling and fixtures for the entire facility.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Work independently without instructionWorking knowledge of Engineering and design coupled with a strong mechanical backgroundAnalyses and resolves problems related to tooling performanceInterprets specifications and maintains liaisons with EngineeringOperates all machine tools, accessories and processes including casting, coining and moldingUse a variety of steels, plastics and compositesWorking knowledge of heat treating of metals including tool steelsWorking familiarity of pneumatics and hydraulicsAttend Quality Manual Standards Training and applies Quality Standards accordinglyObserves safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properlyMaintain a clean work areaSkills, Training & Experience:High school diploma or equivalent, preferredPrevious experience, education and/or training in tool making, requiredAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, mathematical, diagram, or schedule form and deal with several abstract and concrete variablesAbility to solve and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusionsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometryWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is continually required to stand and walk; use hands to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. The employee will occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds or more.
