Registered Nurse – Specialty (Full-Time) Location: Doral UHealth, University of Miami Health System, Doral, FL. Position Overview The University of Miami Health System at Doral offers a full‑time Registered Nurse 2 – Specialty role to deliver patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent environment. The RN oversees nurses and allied health staff in their daily practice within a state‑of‑the‑art facility that includes 8 operating rooms, 3 endoscopy procedure rooms, 33 cancer treatment bays, over 60 multidisciplinary exam rooms, and ancillary services such as imaging, lab, and respiratory therapy. Responsibilities Assess assigned patients and evaluate plans, documenting nursing care and reporting changes in patient condition and vital signs. Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patient responses, conditions, and physician orders. Review, evaluate, and report diagnostic tests to assess patient condition. Consult with physicians and other healthcare professionals on assigned patients to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care plans. Prepare patients for, and assist with, examinations, procedures, and treatments. Consider patient age and culture during treatment and provide any needed information regarding the plan. Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support. Perform appropriate patient tests and safely administer medications within the scope of practice. Administer and maintain accurate records related to medications and treatments as per regulatory bodies, policies, procedures, and physician orders. Communicate plan of care in a timely manner to patients, families, and team members, ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines (e.g., HIPAA). Use available resources to assist in discharge planning. Plan, prioritize, and adjust assignments to accomplish goals and render superior patient care; seek assistance when needed. Safely operate medical equipment and serve as a preceptor, assisting new staff in acclimating to the healthcare environment. Adhere to University and unit‑level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets. Core Qualifications Education Bachelor of Science in Nursing. RNs with an Associates (ASN) degree have 2 years to complete the BSN. Certification and Licensing Florida Registered Nurse License Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS) Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Experience Minimum 2 years of nursing experience in PACU, ICU, or ER.
