BESS Project Manager

\n

Our Engineering & Construction (E&C) Business Unit is looking for a member to join their team. This position is primarily responsible for daily project coordination of internal and external resources to support Development, Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Construction activities from pre-construction (Early Stage) up to the point of Construction for utility scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects within the Engineering and Construction Business Unit (E&C). This position is secondarily responsible for process development, improvement, and training.

Primary Responsibilities:

\n

\n
• Coordinate daily project activities involving internal and external resources to support Development, Engineering, Estimating, Supply Chain, Scheduling, and Construction activities from pre-construction (Early Stage) through to the Construction stage for BESS projects within the E&C Business Unit.
\n
• Manage critical coordination of highly matrixed project development teams to ensure resources are focused on the right activities to meet project schedules.
\n
• Coordinate with environmental, regulatory, cultural, land acquisition, interconnection, and other project variables to ensure comprehensive project development.
\n
• Develop and optimize the project’s technical scope and variables to improve both technical and financial feasibility.
\n
• Support origination and development teams with PPA and GIA negotiations, as well as jurisdictional requirements.
\n
• Coordinate engineering, estimating, and procurement needs to support the development of financial models and project designs.
\n
• Actively seek out and leverage market data to ensure the financial model is robust.
\n
• Present financial models to respective business units and manage them through executive budget approvals.
\n
• Competitively source, negotiate, and execute commercial contracts for critical services, including geotechnical, survey, engineering, and EPC/PC construction services.
\n
• Represent E&C’s interests on assigned projects and engage in various software applications to support activities, manage critical data, and report on key indicators.
\n
• Actively communicate and interface with Executive Leadership, Suppliers, Regulatory Agencies, Local Communities, and other stakeholders.
\n
• Present project progress and risk mitigation strategies in meetings with various levels of management.
\n
• Ensure seamless handover of projects moving to the Construction stage to the Construction Project Manager with an inclusive and executable construction plan.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Support the development and maintenance of processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
\n
• Participate in training program improvements and content creation.
\n
• Lead or assist in special projects as aptitude dictates.
\n

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance/Accounting, or a related field.
\n
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, with a focus on engineering, economics, or construction preferred.
\n
• Technical experience with renewable energy projects, particularly electricity markets, renewables, and battery projects, is a plus.
\n
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and Six Sigma experience are highly desired.
\n
• Advanced Excel skills and excellent project management, communication, financial, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
