Our organization is excited to announce a full-time opportunity for a Board Certified or Board Eligible Infectious Disease physician to become part of our expanding physician group at a community hospital located in Pontiac, Michigan.

The chosen candidate will collaborate with our current solo Infectious Disease physician, establishing a partnership that aims to develop into a larger practice in the future. We already have a well-established group at another location that works closely with our physician here.

This role primarily focuses on inpatient care, complemented by an outpatient component that includes one half-day clinic each week. Support for the practice comes from a dedicated ID/antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist and a strong pharmacy department. Our electronic medical records system is Epic EMR.

The hospital is a 486-bed community teaching facility and a Level II Trauma Center, serving Oakland County and the surrounding areas of southeast Michigan. Our diverse patient population reflects the rich socioeconomic and cultural variety of the greater Detroit metropolitan area, offering a wide range of clinically rewarding cases suitable for comprehensive infectious disease practice.

This position also provides teaching opportunities for Internal Medicine residents and medical students, with the possibility of an academic appointment.

OPPORTUNITY DETAILS

• Position Type: Full-time, 1.0 FTE
• Schedule: Monday to Friday

• Team Size: Currently 1 physician; this hire will establish the foundational two-physician partnership
• Teaching Opportunities: Yes - for Internal Medicine residents and medical students
• Call: 1-in-2 weekends and shared weekday holidays, equally divided between the two physicians. Candidates should be ready for this commitment as the program expands.

REQUIREMENTS

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Infectious Disease; certification must be obtained within the timeframe set by the relevant specialty board
• Active Michigan medical license or the ability to secure one before starting
• DEA license

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

A typical day may involve:

• Providing direct inpatient consultations for infectious diseases across medical and surgical services
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including pharmacy, nursing, and surgical specialties
• Teaching and mentoring Internal Medicine residents and medical students
• Documenting patient information in Epic EMR
• Participating in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Contributing to the development of a hospital-employed Infectious Disease program
