PRODUCT MANAGER
Chapin Manufacturing Inc
Job Description
Job Description
Product Manager, Outdoor Tools
Take Ownership. Drive Innovation. See Your Work on Store Shelves Nationwide.
Chapin International is the #1 manufacturer of sprayers, spreaders, and watering tools — durable, physical products used by homeowners and professionals alike. Our items sit on shelves across North America, in retailers like The Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and Tractor Supply.
We're looking for a motivated Product Manager with proven experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) — someone who understands how physical products are designed, manufactured, priced, and sold through retail, distribution and e-commerce channels.
If your background is in software, finance, or digital platforms — this is not the right fit. We’re building tools you can touch.
What You’ll Do:
• Manage & grow assigned product categories. Own physical products through their entire lifecycle: concept, costing, development, packaging, and go-to-market.
• Lead new product initiatives. Work closely with engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing to bring physical goods from sketches to prototypes to store shelves.
• Drive growth through all channels. Build launch plans, merchandising tools, and promotional strategies that resonate across all channels.
• Create 3-year product plans based on VOC, cost modeling, margin analysis, and category insights.
• Be hands-on. Participate in VOC visits, field testing, and product reviews. Work side-by-side with cross-functional teams on-site — this is not a remote strategy role.
• Support channel execution. Collaborate with the team to develop sell sheets, product content, pricing structures, packaging, and training materials.
What You Bring:
• 4-year degree required (Business, Marketing, Engineering, or related field); MBA a plus
• 3+ years managing physical products in a CPG, hardware, or manufacturing environment
• Experience working with large national retailers (Lowe’s, Home Depot, Walmart, etc.) • Deep familiarity with BOMs, costing, pricing, and supply chain constraints
• Proven track record launching products into brick-and-mortar, distribution and e commerce channels
• Comfortable using Excel, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Willingness to travel (~15%) to retailers, tradeshows, job sites, and factories
