Position Details

Position Title: Phlebotomist

Location: Portland, Oregon 97216

Duration: 13 weeks (Possible extension)

Shift: Night Shift – 10-hour shifts

Schedule: 7 days on / 7 days off, Wednesday–Tuesday

Guaranteed Hours: 36/wk

Pay rate: $36

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and finger sticks to obtain blood specimens.
• Verify patient identification and ensure appropriate specimen type and volume.
• Process and prepare specimens using proper aseptic techniques.
• Complete documentation and paperwork for laboratory and reference testing.
• Explain collection procedures to patients and obtain necessary information.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical departments, and laboratory staff.
• Handle missed collections, recollections, and difficult phlebotomies according to established procedures.
• Monitor and maintain phlebotomy and laboratory equipment as required.
• Assist with inventory, supplies, expiration-date checks, and stock rotation.
• Perform daily quality controls and proficiency testing as required.
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
• Follow all applicable laboratory, safety, regulatory, and infection-control standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred/required based on applicable state requirements.
• CPT I, CPT II, or MLT certification/license preferred.
• EPIC experience required.
• Strong venipuncture and specimen-collection skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a clinical laboratory environment.
• Excellent communication and patient-service skills.
• Must comply with required vaccination and occupational health requirements
