About the Position

Job Title: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular ICU Duration: Permanent Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Critical Care with recent open heart recovery experience required License: Current State RN Licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: Trained to care for immediate post-operative open heart patients Description: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse position available in a 10-bed unit. Candidates must have experience in recent open heart recovery. The role includes caring for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients. Anticipated patient populations include pediatrics, pre and post PCI care, and various cardiac conditions. Staff must be prepared for a range of surgical services and recognize potential deteriorating conditions. Required to operate advanced medical equipment such as central lines, chest tubes, and multiple IVs. Candidates will also provide care for general medical and surgical patients. Responsibilities include assessing and implementing established policies with minimal supervision. The position acts as a clinical leader and assists in precepting new staff members. Direct patient care will be provided from admission to discharge, including discharge planning. Preferred candidates will have knowledge of advanced nursing principles and procedures, particularly in the critical care and CVICU environment. Skills required include the operation of advanced medical equipment and interpretation of basic cardiac telemetry and EKG.
