Location Glendale, California, Irvine, California, Los Angeles, California Job Summary Controller for the California Buildings district in Glendale, CA. The role partners with the Manager, Finance and Commercial Risk to lead all financial accounting and administration functions, provides financial leadership, planning, cash management, commercial risk guidance, analysis and monitoring to support the district’s growth. Responsibilities Mentor and coach direct and indirect reports, including accounting manager, accountants, administrative assistants, and payroll. Partner with Manager Finance and Commercial Risk and operations staff on district strategy to achieve financial and strategic priorities. Provide the District with financial and commercial risk training. Lead yearly planning process and partner with Manager Finance and Commercial Risk to drive ownership and accountability for achieving results. Proactively monitor project and district receivables and cash position. Lead efforts with operations to develop mitigation strategies for risks and cost deviations. Assist in developing overall risk profile for the District and strategies for financing and risk management. Oversee the preparation of insurance, subcontract default insurance, and/or legal claims. Lead the interpretation, negotiation, and approval of deviations from existing supplier, subcontractor, and consultant forms. Partner with Manager Finance and Commercial Risk in providing guidance on owner contracts and subcontracts. Support pursuits and project teams to ensure risks and opportunities are identified, communicated, and managed effectively. Ensure insurance, bonding, and other performance securities meet contract and corporate requirements. Assist in managing all financial and business-related issues. Drive analysis of the District's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets. Provide proactive analysis, feedback, and input on project performance. Evaluate potential joint venture partner financial capability. Verify owner funding sources and collaborate with operations to mitigate financial risks during construction. Oversee owner audits and claims or other project related financial issues. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. 6+ years accounting experience. 5+ years supervisory experience managing the Accounting department. Experience in the construction industry preferred. Advanced knowledge of accounting procedures, budget administration, financial forecasting, analysis, and reporting. Advanced knowledge of bid and contract securities, insurance, and their relation to risk management, claims management, pricing, and accounting. Intermediate ability to draft, review, and negotiate various contract language. Intermediate risk evaluation, negotiation skills, and strategic thinking. Proactive, self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently. Effective problem-solver and decision-maker. Good written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate and build relationships. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $135,000 to $165,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.
