We're Hiring Engineering Technicians in Newport News, VA!

Mission Technologies' Newport News Direct Support team is growing, and we're searching for skilled, driven Engineering Technicians to support critical work at Newport News Shipbuilding.

As an Engineering Technician within our Direct Support group, you'll play a vital role across a wide variety of functional areas, contributing directly to some of the most advanced and meaningful projects in the nation. This hiring campaign is focused on adding exceptional talent to our Test Engineering Departments, where you'll support major active projects within Newport News Shipbuilding's Division.

What You Will Do

• Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.

• Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.

• Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).

• Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.

• Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.

• May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

What You Must Have

Education/Experience:

• Engineering Technician 2 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years related (DoD/USN) experience.

• Engineering Technician 3 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience.

• Engineering Technician 4 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience.

Security Compliance Knowledge & Operational Skills:

• Candidates must have a Confidential Security Clearance.

• Candidate must have experience with Navy Work Authorization Forms and Tag Outs using eSOMS.

• Candidate must be able to work in a shipboard environment.

• Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.

Bonus Points For Having!

• Prior operational and maintenance experience on either US Navy Aircraft Carriers or Submarines.

• Knowledge of Naval Steam Plants and/or Shipboard Mechanical or Electrical components regarding Aircraft Carriers or Submarines.

• Work Control knowledge in regards to ship overhaul and repair, Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFFM).

• Navy Nuclear experience.

Physical Requirements

Job performance requires adequate visual acuity and manual dexterity for meeting the requirements of the job. A waterfront office work environment is normally encountered.
