Staff Attorney

Company Description Wasatch Immigration Project (WIP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing accessible immigration legal services in the Wasatch Back and surrounding areas. WIP serves community members facing complex immigration issues, including asylum seekers, survivors of domestic violence, trafficking, and other serious crimes. The organization also supports minors who are unaccompanied or have experienced abuse, abandonment, or neglect. WIP works to promote safety, stability, and justice for immigrant communities through compassionate, high-quality legal representation and advocacy. Role Description The Staff Attorney is a full-time, hybrid role based in Park City, UT, providing direct immigration legal services to clients in the region. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing eligibility for immigration relief and providing legal advice and representation before immigration agencies and courts. The Staff Attorney will prepare and file applications, motions, and supporting documentation, and maintain accurate, confidential case files. The role also involves legal research, staying current on immigration laws and policies, collaborating with staff and community partners, and participating in outreach, education, and advocacy efforts to support immigrant communities. Salary: $70,000-$100,000, depending on experience. Qualifications Qualified candidates should have a J.D., membership in a state bar, and at least two years of immigration law experience. Spanish fluency and immigration court experience are strongly preferred. Strong foundation in Law, with demonstrated experience or interest in immigration law and related practice areas. Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law as it intersects with immigration issues is beneficial. Ability to provide clear, accurate Legal Advice to clients, with strong professional judgment and ethical standards. Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, regulations, and policy guidance. Effective Negotiation skills for advocacy with government agencies, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders. Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in any U.S. jurisdiction; eligibility to practice in Utah or willingness to obtain admission preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills, including drafting legal documents and explaining complex concepts in understandable terms. High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed, client-centered representation; experience working with diverse and vulnerable populations is a plus. Proficiency with standard office software and case management systems; ability to maintain secure, accurate records. Professional fluency in Spanish or another language commonly spoken in immigrant communities is strongly preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr
