Center for Workforce Development - RN Skills Supervisor, Part-Time

Summary: 

D’Youville University is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to serve as a Workforce Development Skills Supervisor for short-term healthcare training programs. This role will support hybrid and in-person allied health courses, with primary responsibility for hands-on skills instruction, lab supervision, competency checkoffs, student remediation, and clinical readiness.

The RN Skills Supervisor will support programs such as CNA, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician, patient care skills, infection control, clinical professionalism, and related entry-level healthcare training. The role may also support selected skills-lab components of Medical Assistant or other programs in collaboration with program-specific instructors or subject-matter experts.

This is a part-time role with a mix of hybrid and in-person responsibilities. Online course oversight and student follow-up may be completed remotely when appropriate. Skills labs, demonstrations, checkoffs, simulations, and student assessments will be conducted in person at D’Youville or another approved training location.

The ideal candidate is a clinically strong RN who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and helping students gain the skills, confidence, and professionalism needed to enter the healthcare workforce.

Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Administration

• Lead in-person skills labs, demonstrations, simulations, practice sessions, and competency checkoffs.
• Teach and reinforce patient care basics, vital signs, infection control, PPE, hand hygiene, safety, documentation, communication, and professionalism.
• Support phlebotomy and EKG-related skills instruction when qualified and aligned with program requirements.
• Monitor student progress in online or hybrid course components as assigned.
• Provide coaching, feedback, and remediation for students who need additional support.
• Complete attendance, skills checkoff, remediation, and student progress documentation.
• Help prepare lab spaces, equipment, supplies, and instructional materials for workforce courses.
• Support student readiness for certification, clinical or live practice, and entry-level healthcare employment.
• Work with the Director of Workforce Development, program instructors, curriculum vendors, and employer partners to align training with workforce needs.
• Maintain a safe, professional, and supportive learning environment.
• Follow all D’Youville policies and applicable program, certification, regulatory, safety, and documentation requirements.

Specialized programs, including Sterile Processing Technician, Pharmacy Technician, EEG/Neurodiagnostic Technician, and certain Medical Assistant components, may require separate subject-matter instructors or co-instructors with field-specific experience and/or credentials.

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education:

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse license.

Experience:

• Clinical experience in healthcare, nursing, patient care, or a related setting.

Skills & Abilities: 

• Ability to teach, demonstrate, supervise, and evaluate hands-on healthcare skills.
• Strong communication, organization, and student support skills.
• Comfort working with adult learners and students entering healthcare for the first time.
• Ability to use online learning platforms and basic instructional technology.
• Ability to maintain accurate attendance, skills, and student progress documentation.
• Commitment to workforce development, student success, and entry-level healthcare career preparation.

Physical & Enviornmental:

• Possess the ability to react calmly and effectively in dynamic situations.
• Handle multiple tasks and priorities at once while solving problems and thinking innovatively.
• Administrative, organizational, supervisory, and budget-management skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and through electronic communication methods.
• Ability to occasionally travel for clinical partnership development, accreditation activities, conferences, and professional engagement opportunities.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
• Extended periods of sitting, standing, stair climbing, maneuvering objects of substantial weight.
• Must possess a person-focused philosophy.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Prior teaching, precepting, clinical education, staff development, or workforce training experience.
• Experience with CNA, long-term care, acute care, ambulatory care, home care, phlebotomy, EKG, medical assisting, or related allied health skills.
• Experience with skills labs, simulations, competency checkoffs, or clinical onboarding.
• Flexibility to support evening, weekend, or accelerated course schedules.

Pay: $28-$35 Hourly
