Director of Operations – College of Arts and Sciences Position in the University of New Mexico College of Arts and Sciences, the largest college on the central campus. Position Overview The Director of Operations provides strategic operational leadership for the College, overseeing a substantial redesign of processes, staff role clarity, and infrastructure for service delivery to departments, faculty, staff, and students. The Dean’s Office values clarity, fairness, transparency, and a culture of growth. The Senior Operations leader partners closely with academic operations, finance, and research administration leaders. Key Responsibilities Oversee selected administrative functions of the Dean's Office, including core office operations. Partner with leaders of academic operations, finance, and research administration to align operational strategies. Lead the transition from planning to implementation of operational redesign, building durable systems and processes. Develop staff leadership and manage teams across multiple operational functions. Translate strategic goals into effective operational execution and schedule delivery of projects. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities of this position. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that exceed the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Preferred Qualifications Demonstrated success leading operations and managing complex projects in a large or decentralized organization. Significant experience supervising and developing staff across multiple operational functions. Experience with process evaluation and the implementation of process improvements. Collaborative and professional leadership that navigates competing priorities and diverse stakeholder needs. Ability to translate strategic goals into effective operational execution. Strong management and organizational skills, meeting deadlines while working on multiple projects. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, engaging broad audiences. Commitment to working effectively in a diverse work environment. Employment Details Position Grade: 16 Employment Type: Staff (Regular – Full Time) Location: Main – Albuquerque, NM Pay Range: $7,084.13 – $10,140.00 monthly (dependent on experience) Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, tuition remission, and dependent education programs.
