Chief Radiation Therapist

Texas Oncology is looking for a Chief Radiation Therapist to join our team! This position will support the TXO 3550 NE Loop 286 Paris, Texas 75460 location.

Texas Oncology is the largest community oncology provider in the country and has approximately 600+ providers in 220+ sites across Texas and southeastern Oklahoma. More victories." in their fight against cancer. Today, Texas Oncology treats half of all Texans diagnosed with cancer on an annual basis.

Texas Oncology- Paris market is comprised of two linear accelerators (one located in Paris and one in Greenville) and a separate HDR vault. The team consists of seven radiation therapists, two medical physicists, and three dosimetrists. The patient volume in this market is approximately 75 patients treated per day. This position also works with two radiation oncologists, four nurses, two CT Techs and a medical assistant. TXO Paris has diagnostic CT available daily and PET coach onsite two days a week.

Responsibilities

What does the Chief Radiation Therapist do?

The Chief Radiation Therapist is responsible for the planning, coordination and evaluation of the technical staff. Interacts and directs the radiation therapists and CT simulation technicians in order to effectively deliver a high-quality radiation therapy treatment course for each patient presented. May perform the duties of radiation therapist and mold technicians up to 20% of the time in order to maintain a high-quality care environment. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

The essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Supervises and coordinates all technical staff including evaluating performance to enhance high quality radiation therapy.
  • Participates in QA program to assure accuracy of treatment plan and delivery. Reviews and amends patient billing for accuracy. Participates in the clinical instruction of newly hired radiation staff and radiation therapy students.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, and rewarding and disciplining employees.
  • Directly supervises employees in the radiation oncology program which may include mold technicians, simulation therapists, radiation therapists.
  • Implements standard radiation oncology and diagnostic policies and procedures throughout the practice.
  • Directs the hiring and training of all radiation and imaging personnel for maximum service to patients in accordance with practice and USON policies and procedures.
  • Develops performance expectations, and departmental objectives for radiation staff positions to ensure efficiency and productivity.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the Chief Radiation Therapist position will have the following background and experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy technology program, Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Minimum five years actively practicing as an RTT.
  • Preference of at least two years of leadership as a Chief Radiation Therapist
  • Minimum two years prior supervisory experience required.
  • ARRT certification required.
  • Valid state license for radiation therapy.
