About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 3 years working experience preferred in a hospital setting. License: Valid RN License required. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required. Must-Have: Epic experience is required. No first-time travelers. A minimum of one successful travel assignment is required with no performance or attendance issues. Weekend requirement: minimum of 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week period. Description: Epic experience is required. If recent Epic experience is not demonstrated, the traveler will be cancelled. Charting experience must be noted next to each assignment in the profile submitted. No exceptions to this requirement. The unit is ICU. Ratios are 1:2, with occasional 1:3. The following procedures may be performed on this unit: central line setup and management, arterial line management, and basic dysrhythmia training is required. Travelers in ICU are expected to float to Med Surge/Tele settings; this occurs often. Housing accommodations and block scheduling are not available. A zero-fault attendance policy is in effect. Any missed scheduled shift, regardless of the reason, will count as unexcused. Two missed shifts will result in a warning; three missed shifts may lead to cancellation. This applies to a rolling calendar year. All candidates must be familiar with the attendance policy prior to submission. All requested time off must be noted upfront; no additional time off will be granted after submission or while working on contract. No RTO on holiday periods. Compliance with timeframes is essential, including completing all assigned modules prior to the start of the assignment. Travelers must commit to going into the lab within 48-72 hours of signing. Patient demographics include adults and geriatrics. The unit has an interdisciplinary support system in place. Additional patient diagnoses include critical care needs and various post-surgical conditions. Performance expectations include adherence to assigned patient ratios and the management of multiple IV drips. Specific management skills of ventilated patients, post-cardiac surgery patients, and management of acute stroke cases are required. Traveler must provide one reference from a manager or unit supervisor in the relevant specialty from their most recent assignment.
