Assistant Activity DirectorThe Assistant Activity Director provides ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesGroup social activitiesSpiritual programs and attendance at houses of worshipProvide opportunities for resident involvement in planning and implementation of activitiesCreative Activities such as arts, crafts, music, drama and educational programsExercise activitiesPromotion of facility and community interactionPrepare, plan and coordinate a monthly calendar of activitiesOversight of Activity AidesTrain, and supervise volunteers when appropriateAssess resident needs and develop resident activities goals for the written care planEncourage residents to participate in activities and document appropriatelyReview resident goals and progress notesProperly document MDS reports and progress notesParticipate with the Administrator in developing the activity budget, including creatively sourcing fundsFoster relationships of family members and community partners that may assist in supporting the Activity departmentAttend care plan meetings, QAPI, and department head meetings as necessaryOther duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or its equivalent2 years minimum of experience in a social or recreational programExceptional verbal and written communication skillsPhysical DemandsMust be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, hostile people within the facility.Must be able to push, pull move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
