Tutor Sonographer – Paediatric Ultrasound Education Salary: HSO Level P4 $148,216 - $153,151 per annum (plus 12% superannuation) Location: Perth Children's Hospital, Nedlands Unit/Division: Perth Children's Hospital > Medical Imaging Work Type: Permanent – Full Time, Permanent – Part Time About the Role Perth Children’s Hospital & Neonatology (PCHN) are seeking an experienced and passionate Tutor Sonographer to join our Medical Imaging Department and lead the delivery of our high‑quality ultrasound training program. This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced diagnostic sonography, education, and leadership, supporting the development of the next generation of sonographers within a highly specialised paediatric environment. Our service supports outpatients, inpatients, and emergency presentations, delivering a broad range of paediatric ultrasound examinations including soft tissue, organ, musculoskeletal, and vascular imaging for a diverse patient cohort from newborns to adolescents. Key Responsibilities Include Developing and implementing structured learning protocols and competency frameworks. Delivering structured training through clinical supervision, simulation, and formal academic education. Supporting trainees undertaking ASAR‑accredited ultrasound programmes. Co‑ordinating training placements across paediatric and adult public hospital settings. Working closely with the Supervisor Sonographer to align training with service delivery. Leading the training, mentoring and supervision of trainee sonographers, sonographers, and registrars, monitoring trainee progress, competencies, and performance. Developing and evaluating education programs to ensure alignment with best practice and patient outcomes. Supporting professional development through workshops, case presentations, and in‑house education sessions. Collaborating with radiologists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistency in protocols, teaching approaches, and clinical standards. Performing advanced paediatric and neonatal ultrasound scans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver accurate diagnostic information. Maintaining accurate patient records and examination data. Supporting quality assurance processes and equipment performance. Participating in research projects, quality improvement initiatives and contributing to advancements in paediatric imaging. About You If you are an experienced sonographer with a passion for clinical excellence and the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and multidisciplinary teams, we encourage you to apply. We are seeking an applicant with: Proven ability to teach, supervise, and develop others. Strong communication, collaboration, and organisational skills. Sound knowledge of quality assurance and clinical governance. A tertiary qualification in a relevant health/science field with an ASAR‑accredited qualification in sonography and current registration with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) as an accredited medical sonographer. Eligibility Applicants must have a valid working visa (for fixed‑term appointments) or be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia (for permanent appointments).
