Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room (ER) is responsible for providing skilled nursing care in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. This role involves managing patient assessments, administering medications, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive emergency care. The nurse will work in a 28-bed ER department including trauma bays, behavior health rooms, and cardiac monitor rooms, ensuring efficient patient turnover and quality care. A valid Hawaii RN license and at least two years of relevant experience are required. Responsibilities:

  • Perform patient assessments and triage in a fast-paced ER setting.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor and manage patients in trauma bays, behavior health rooms, and cardiac monitor rooms.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Document patient care accurately and timely in medical records.
  • Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively.
  • Participate in team-oriented care to ensure efficient patient turnover.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Hawaii.
  • Minimum of two years nursing experience, preferably in ER or acute care settings.
  • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience working in trauma, cardiac monitoring, or behavioral health units.
  • Advanced certifications such as ACLS, PALS, or TNCC.
Special Considerations:
  • Must be licensed to practice nursing in Hawaii by the start of the assignment.
  • Work in a 28-bed ER department including trauma bays and behavior health rooms.
  • Fast patient turnover and team-oriented environment requiring strong collaboration.
  • No guaranteed hours; schedule may vary based on department needs.
Scheduling:
  • 15-week assignment with night shifts.
  • Schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week (36 hours weekly) following orientation.
