Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Lahey Clinic

Position Summary:

Lahey Clinic is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead hospital operations and drive strategic execution across the organization. Reporting to the President, the COO will play a critical role in advancing operational excellence, enhancing patient-centered care, and delivering strong organizational performance across a leading academic health system.

This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for aligning operations with enterprise strategy, fostering collaboration across BILH, and elevating quality, efficiency, and patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day hospital and ambulatory operations to ensure high-quality, safe, and efficient care delivery
  • Execute strategic and operational plans in partnership with executive leadership, physician leaders, and academic stakeholders
  • Build credibility and trust across leadership, physicians, clinicians, and staff through visible, transparent communication, with a strong emphasis on physician engagement and partnership in an academic environment
  • Establish and sustain strong relationships with physicians and academic leaders, maintaining a consistent presence across departments to foster collaboration and advance academic medicine
  • Drive performance improvement through data, metrics, and best practices
  • Partner on service line growth, business development, and market expansion
  • Strengthen patient experience, clinical quality, and operational outcomes
  • Lead, develop, and mentor senior leaders within a complex, matrixed organization
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory, legal, and accreditation standards
  • Serve as a key ambassador across BILH and within the community

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field (clinical background preferred)
  • 10+ years of healthcare leadership experience, including at least 5 executive-level roles
  • Experience within a multi-hospital or academic health system strongly preferred
  • Experience in service line operations, program development, and physician relations

Pay Range:

$500,000.00 USD - $520,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for additional compensation, which may include performance-based incentive bonuses.
