Position Summary

The College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Georgia, invites applications for clinical track (non‑tenure track), tenure track, or tenured faculty positions in small animal internal medicine at the rank of assistant, associate, or full professor. The major responsibilities are to teach and provide service in small animal internal medicine in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, teach didactic and laboratory courses related to internal medicine topics to veterinary students, actively participate in the training of residents and interns, and develop a research program that can be independent and/or collaborative with other faculty members. Service and teaching assignments will reflect the candidate’s interests in conjunction with the missions of the internal medicine program and the Department. The Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a 300,000 square foot facility equipped with endoscopy, laser, CT, MRI, radiography, ultrasound, nuclear scintigraphy, and a full laboratory. Salary and entry rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and provide clinical service in small animal internal medicine in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital.
  • Develop, deliver, and assess didactic and laboratory courses related to internal medicine topics.
  • Actively mentor and supervise residents and interns participating in the program.
  • Establish and maintain an independent or collaborative research program in small animal internal medicine.
  • Participate in departmental and university committees and initiatives as required.

Minimum Qualifications

All candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree.

Additional Requirements

All candidates must have completed an approved residency of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or the European College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and have board certification or be eligible for board certification. For tenure‑track or tenured faculty, documented research productivity commensurate with rank and a demonstrated research agenda are required. Clinical faculty must meet the guidelines specified for non‑tenure track appointment in the Department.

Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

State of Georgia Veterinary License or Veterinary Faculty License.
