Engineer 2 - Design Company: Southern Company Gas Location: 10 Peachtree Pl NE, Atlanta, GA 30309 Position Type: Contract- 2Years Job Summary The Engineer - Design Contractor assists in the planning, design, and development of technical standards for gas distribution infrastructure projects . This role is ideal for a self-starter and critical thinker with strong communication skills who enjoys the challenges of supporting the construction of natural gas facilities — a vital part of America's energy mix. Key Responsibilities Support the design and development of natural gas storage or fueling station projects . Design components and functionality for pipeline products and mechanical systems. Participate in the planning, design, and maintenance of mechanical equipment and components. Perform system balances to identify low points and propose optimized solutions. Provide oversight and technical support for construction activities and field operations. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or General). 3+ years of progressive engineering experience required. Equivalent academic education and related work experience may be considered. Preferred Certifications Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) Certification preferred. Skills & Competencies Project Management skills with the ability to deliver on timelines and budgets. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across matrix organizations . Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as part of cross-functional teams. Critical thinking and customer-focused mindset with a solution-driven approach. Proficient in MS Office (advanced level).
