Plant Manager / Senior Operations Manager

About the Opportunity A growing and well-established manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Plant Manager / Senior Operations Manager to lead a resin and electrocoat production facility. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, quality, workforce development, process improvement, and long-term plant growth. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in chemical, resin, polymer, coatings, specialty chemicals, or process manufacturing environments , along with proven success leading teams in a unionized manufacturing setting. Key Responsibilities Lead all aspects of plant operations with accountability for safety, quality, production, delivery, and cost performance. Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business growth, capacity expansion, and manufacturing objectives. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, productivity, yield improvement, and cost reduction. Establish and monitor KPIs to improve operational visibility and decision-making. Lead production, process engineering, maintenance, quality, and supervisory teams to achieve performance goals. Partner with senior leadership on capital investments, workforce planning, and site development initiatives. Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, PSM, and quality standards. Support labor relations and workforce engagement within a union manufacturing environment. Oversee staffing plans, shift management, training, succession planning, and talent development. Lead major plant initiatives including facility expansions, process improvements, technology upgrades, and new product introductions. Required Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Industrial Engineering, or related technical discipline. 10+ years of manufacturing leadership experience within: Resins Polymers Coatings Specialty Chemicals Other Process Manufacturing Industries 5+ years of leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of: Manufacturing Operations Process Engineering EHS Programs OSHA & EPA Compliance Quality Systems Corrective Action Programs Proven experience managing cross-functional manufacturing teams. Preferred MBA, Master's Degree, or advanced technical degree. Experience with: Resin Polymerization Electrocoat Manufacturing Chemical Processing Operations Batch Manufacturing Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent continuous improvement certification.
