Fiscal Technician

We are excited to announce a job opening for a Fiscal Technician - Citywide Classification within the City of North Las Vegas (CNLV). This is a great opportunity to contribute to our organization's continued success.

This job posting will create a citywide eligibility list specifically for internal, non-probationary Teamster members. This list will be used to fill Fiscal Technician vacancies across various departments, excluding Police and Corrections.

The eligibility list will be active for up to 180 days. All non-probationary Teamster members who successfully complete the selection process will be placed on this list.

In accordance with our collective bargaining agreement, we will first attempt to fill the position from the internal Teamster eligibility list. All other employees (including part-time and temporary staff) and external candidates are welcome to apply. If the position is not filled by a full-time, non-probationary Teamster member, we will then consider qualified part-time/temporary employees and external candidates.

ESSENTIAL INFORMATION

• Pay Considerations - The starting hourly pay for this position is $27.60. The selected candidate for this position will start at the beginning of the salary range, no exceptions.
  Existing employees will receive increases as outlined by their bargaining agreement.
• Work Schedule - This position is scheduled to work 4 days per week, 9 hours per day, (36 hour work week) Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:00pm.

THE ROLE
Performs technical accounting activities including processing and reconciling accounts; and to perform a variety of technical accounting duties involving the reporting of financial transactions and the maintenance of financial records for City operations, programs and services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

• AA Degree or certificate in accounting, business administration or equivalent; and,
• Three years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferably with a public employer.
• Equivalency: Five years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferably with a public employer may be substituted for the education and experience required above.

Licenses and Certifications

• Must possess a valid state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record with the ability to obtain appropriate Nevada state driver's license within required time frame.

SELECTION PROCESS

1. Complete Online Application - Interested candidates MUST submit a completed application through the City's application system. Evaluation of meeting requirements will be made solely on information provided on the application and any required attachments.
2. The selection process will begin with a screening of the application/resume - The best qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the assessment process.
3. Online Assessment (Weighted 40%, Passing Score 70%) - The most qualified individuals will be invited to participate in an online assessment that will measure candidates ability to proofread, maintain attention to detail, customer service, accounting experience, and may include items related to performing the essential functions of the position.
4. Oral Board Interview (Weighted 60%, Passing Score 70%) .
5. Pre-Employment Screening - Selected candidates for this position are subject to a pre-employment screening which includes but is not limited to local & state criminal history check; federal criminal history check via submission of fingerprints; and drug screening. *IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Background check processing may take 2 to 3 months to complete.
6. Selection/Offers

Note: Subsequent vacancies during the life of the internal eligibility list may require participation in an additional selection interview. The selection interview will be weighted 100%, requiring a passing score of 70% in order to be considered for the subsequent position vacancy.
