CNC Machinist-1st Shift Direct Hire Winchester, VA$25-35/hr. based on experienceThe CNC machinist must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will be able to comprehend complex blueprints, have in-depth knowledge of all traditional machine tools as well as modern CNC machines. Experience with many types of metal, their properties and how to process them is a must.ResponsibilitiesSetup and operate manual machine toolsSetup and operate CNC machine toolsModify G code and write simple CNC programsPerform quality inspections in process and evaluate finished productsUnderstand limits of machining (speeds and feeds) and work holding devicesMaintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safetyMaintain a low scrap/rejected part rateAccurately track time on individual jobsExcellent attendance. 7:00-3:30 first shift, 2:30-10:00 second shift, flexible work hours. Overtime and weekend work is typically available may be requiredRequirements5+ years experience as a CNC machinist in a machine shop or similar environmentSuccessful completion of a relevant apprenticeship programAbove average mathematical skillsExperience using a variety of machine toolsExperience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, grinders, overhead cranes, etc.)Ability to use all manual inspection toolsAbility to read and interpret complex technical documents and drawingsKnowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (mask, safety glasses, gloves etc.) when requiredAbility to work with a team and effectively communicate relevant project information to superiors, resolve or escalates issues in a timely fashionBe in good physical conditionSuggested RequirementsProfessional training and certificationGibbsCAM programming experienceUnderstanding of technical drawings with GD&T dimensioningAbility to setup and operate multiple machines in a work cellAvailability to move from first to second shift as needed
