MILLWRIGHT

POSITION SUMMARY

Millwright 1 is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment throughout the facility. The position performs advanced mechanical work, including welding, fabrication, machining, rigging, hydraulics, pneumatics, and equipment installation.

The Millwright 1 works independently and collaboratively with electricians, Maintenance team, and other departments to support safe and reliable facility operations. Work is performed in accordance with layout plans, blueprints, technical drawings, manufacturer specifications, and established safety requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

• Install, dismantle, move, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturer specifications.
• Perform advanced cutting, welding, machining, and fabrication, including acetylene and plasma cutting and stick, TIG, and MIG welding.
• Inspect equipment to identify malfunctions and determine appropriate repairs or corrective action.
• Operate machine tools and maintenance equipment used to fabricate parts required for machinery overhaul, maintenance, repair, and installation.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fluid-pumping systems and perform necessary repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment and systems.
• Utilize precision measurement instruments and accurately read calipers, tape measures, and metric and standard measurements.
• Read and interpret 2-D and 3-D blueprints, drawings, assembly instructions, and technical specifications.
• Perform rigging and safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, scissor lifts, and other mobile or material-handling equipment as required.
• Start up, shut down, and perform general operation and monitoring of boilers as assigned.
• Inspect equipment and troubleshoot malfunctions to determine appropriate repairs or corrective action.
• Follow established lockout/tagout, machine safety, PPE, and other applicable safety procedures when performing maintenance and repair work.
• Maintain accurate documentation through the Quality Management System, including applicable work instructions, maintenance documentation, and training records.
• Maintain clean and orderly shops, work areas, tools, and job sites.
• Respond to emergency maintenance needs and equipment breakdowns as required.
• Be available for overtime and call-in work on off-shifts and weekends as necessary, including opening the Mill early on Mondays and securing the Mill on Saturdays.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support department and Mill operations

QUALIFICATIONS (The training, education and/or experience necessary to fulfill the job)

• Advanced mechanical aptitude and demonstrated experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and installing industrial machinery and equipment.
• Demonstrated experience with metal fabrication, machining, and the use of machine and maintenance tools.
• Experience with stick, TIG, and MIG welding and the ability to perform high-quality steel and metal welding.
• Experience with acetylene and plasma cutting.
• Working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, fluid-pumping, and related mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of rigging practices, overhead cranes, and mobile equipment operation.
• Ability to read and interpret 2-D and 3-D blueprints, technical drawings, assembly instructions, and equipment specifications.
• Ability to use precision measurement instruments and accurately read calipers, tape measures, and metric and standard measurements.
• Ability to identify grades and sizes of bolts, pipes, tubing, cables, wires, and other mechanical components.
• Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and determine appropriate repair methods.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in English.
• Ability to work independently without close supervision and effectively as part of a diverse team.
• Must be self-motivated, responsible, dependable, and detail-oriented.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, parts, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds and, on an occasional basis, assist with heavier loads using appropriate assistance or material-handling equipment.
• Frequently bends, twists, reaches, crouches, kneels, climbs, and works in a variety of positions while inspecting, maintaining, installing, and repairing equipment.
• Frequently performs fine and gross manual dexterity tasks involving the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, precision instruments, and machinery.
• Ability to safely climb ladders and access equipment at varying heights as required.
• Ability to work in and around industrial machinery and equipment, including confined or restricted work areas as required.
• Frequent exposure to a manufacturing environment that may include noise, dust, lint, heat, moving machinery, oils, lubricants, and other industrial conditions.
• Required use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, safety footwear, and other task-specific PPE.
• Ability to safely perform physically demanding maintenance and repair work throughout the shift.

Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM
Wages and annual increases are provided in accordance with the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement. Shift differential on 2nd and 3rd shifts. Eligible employees receive ten (10) paid holidays, medical, dental, prescription drug coverage, short-term disability benefits, vision care reimbursement, shoe reimbursement, and a 401(k) retirement plan with Company matching contributions up to $750 annually, plus an annual employer fixed contribution of $1,300. Employees also begin accruing sick leave and vacation time starting on their first day of employment.
