Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) for a Medical-Surgical unit at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York. This role involves providing comprehensive care to adult patients with a wide range of medical and post-surgical conditions.

The unit specializes in managing patients recovering from various procedures, including those with abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, utilizing specialized equipment and delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct and comprehensive nursing care to adult medical-surgical patients.
• Manage and monitor patients with diverse diagnoses, including post-surgical care for abdominal pain, cholelithiasis, osteoarthritis, fractures, back pain, and bariatric surgery.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, utilizing specialized equipment such as IV pumps, N/G tubes, and feeding tubes.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, develop individualized care plans, and evaluate patient outcomes.
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
• Float to other units as required by facility needs.

Required Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in an acute care Medical-Surgical setting.
• Prior travel nursing experience is required.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.
