Job Title: Molding Tooling Engineer
Location: Libertyville, IL
Pay Rate: $42 $45/hr on W2
Job Summary
Seeking a Molding Tooling Engineer with medical product experience and strong expertise in injection molding, hot runner systems, and mold/tooling design.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, optimize, and troubleshoot molds, jigs, and fixtures.
- Perform DFM reviews and participate in tooling design reviews.
- Approve mold designs and qualify molds using FIR/FRP processes.
- Support mold sampling, validation, and final part approval.
- Troubleshoot tooling and molding issues and implement cost-effective improvements.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to ensure quality and efficiency.
- Maintain tooling documentation and provide project status updates.
Required Skills
- Experience with injection molding machines and hot runner systems.
- Strong knowledge of thermoplastics, injection molding, mold validation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with medical products/manufacturing.
- ProE/Creo, Windchill, SolidWorks, and MS Office.
- Basic injection molding machine operator knowledge is preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with tooling repair and modification.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in mold/tooling design, validation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
