Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) for a contract assignment in Chico, California. This role involves providing direct patient care within the perioperative setting, functioning as a crucial first assistant to surgeons in both the Operating Room and Labor and Delivery Suite.

The successful candidate will leverage an expanded scope of perioperative nursing practice, applying specialized knowledge, skills, and judgment to support surgical procedures under the direct supervision of the surgeon. This position requires active participation in the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care within the perioperative environment.
• Function as a first assistant to the surgeon during surgical procedures in the Operating Room and Labor and Delivery Suite.
• Utilize an expanded scope of perioperative nursing practice to support surgical teams.
• Apply specialized knowledge, skills, and judgment to facilitate optimal surgical outcomes.
• Work collaboratively under the direct supervision of the surgeon.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
• Current Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Ability to obtain medical staff credentialing through the facility, which may require a 6-8 week processing time.
