If you like the outdoors and are fascinated by Native culture, this assignment is for you. You will be working five minutes from Canyon de Chelly, one of the largest, and most significant archaeological preserves in the U.S. And if you are not fascinated by the 5,000-year habitation history of the park, you will be stunned by its red rock formations and wooded red-floored canyons. Meanwhile you will be within driving distance of five other National Parks including the Grand Canyon. You won't want to miss the Hubble Trading Post where Navajo and Hope traded wool blanket for pesh-tai, tokens they could use to buy other goods. It is essentially unchanged since 1883. More importantly you will be alleviating the health care shortage in one of the most underserved regions in the U.S. Navajo and Hope are 5-6 times more likely to suffer from debilitating chronic health conditions due to poor living conditions and lack of access to care.About the Facility – Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility (CCHCF) This facility provides medical care for approximately 35,000 Navajo people. Serving a rural area, many of their patients travel 100 miles round trip to receive care and do not have electricity or running water in their homes. And, most of their elderly patients speak only Navajo and live according to traditional Navajo cultural practices. The Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility and Ambulatory Care Center is a 60 bed inpatient hospital and outpatient facility. Services offered are: Adult Inpatient and Pediatric Inpatient Care, Outpatient Primary Care, Adult Intensive Care, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, Podiatry, OBGYN, Labor & Delivery, Women's Health, Midwifery, Mental Health, Pharmacy, Optometry, Dental, PT, OT, Speech Pathology, Audiology, Lab, Public Health and School Health. Facility Address: State Highway 191 W, Chinle, AZ 86503OBGYN/Labor & Delivery - RESPONSIBILITIESMust be very knowledgeable of nursing care to laboring, postpartum, antepartum and newborn patients is a must.Shall perform nursing duties and manage patient's needs.Shall exercise knowledge of scientific and psychosocial nursing theory, principles, spiritual, and social-cultural needs of the patient.Shall exercise knowledge of biological aspects of disease processes and illness relating to Obstetrical and newborn infants and is able to recognize complications and implement appropriate nursing/therapeutic intervention required.Shall exercise knowledge of medications and dosages in order to recognize their desired effects, side-effects, and complications of their use.Shall cross train to Women's Health Clinic when short staffed.Shall provide appropriate documentation regarding care rendered.OBGYN/Labor & Delivery - REQUIREMENTSDegree: A degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed.Experience: Shall have 36 months of nursing experience, with a minimum of 12 months in OBGYN specialty.Licensing: Shall possess a current, valid, unrestricted nursing license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring Certification are mandatory.
