About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years preferred License: SC license or Compact license required prior to start Certifications: BLS required, ACLS and NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Epic experience Experience in Med/Surg, MS/Tele, Telemetry Ability to manage insulin and respond to rapid response situations Description: This position is for a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse. The shift is for 4x12 hour days from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The patient ratios are typically 1:6-7. The staffing plan accommodates for normal ratios but may flex to 1:7 in case of unplanned absences. Weekend work is required every other weekend. On-call duties are required on a prn low census basis. Travelers may need to float within scope to meet facility needs or between like units. Candidates should have at least 2 years of experience in the specialty. First-time travelers are accepted. BLS certification is required upon starting. ACLS and NIHSS certifications are preferred. Additional skills required include telemetry experience, blood product administration, and managing various medical devices such as chest tubes and feeding tubes. The unit generally serves adults and geriatrics with typical medical-surgical diagnoses. The facility utilizes telemedicine services and is supported by an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy and social services. Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season, all employees may be assigned to emergency response teams.
