Weekend Hair Stylist

$40 - $47 per hour

Sharkey's Peoria

Job Description

Looking for great weekend income? Sharkey's Cuts for Kids is hiring happy, energetic stylists and barbers for Saturday and Sunday shifts . Weekends are our busiest days, so you'll stay booked and earn well. It's a great fit if you work at a salon that's closed Sundays, are building your book, or just want strong weekend pay. We're a salon for kids ages 0–14, on a mission to WOW every client from the moment they walk in. It's not just a cut, it's an experience.

The Schedule

Saturdays 9 AM–6 PM, Sundays 9 AM–5 PM
Full-day, morning (9 AM–1 PM), and Sunday afternoon (1–5 PM) shifts available
Weekend-only welcome, with more hours available if you want them
Mornings are our busiest time, so you'll be booked from the start

What You'll Earn

Earn $40–47/hour including tips ($16.25–18/hour base, depending on experience)
Tips paid out immediately
20% commission on retail product sales

Perks & Work-Life Balance

Steady, consistent bookings — we average 1,200+ cuts a month and are still growing, so no waiting around for clients
Receptionist support to keep you cutting when you're back-to-back
Paid sick leave
A genuinely fun work environment

Why Our Team Loves It Here

A hands-on owner who genuinely invests in her team — most of our stylists say they stay because of the support they get here
New to kids' cuts or not confident with boys' cuts? We'll train you — several of our best stylists started exactly there
We promote from within whenever we can — there's real room to grow
Your creativity is valued and encouraged
Smiles, positivity, and a crew that actually enjoys working together

A Day at Sharkey's

Picture a colorful salon with music playing, themed chairs, movies, video games, and fun distractions to keep kids happy and engaged. Every visit is designed to be an experience — for the kids and for you.

What You'll Do

Create an exceptional, fun experience for every young client
Listen and communicate clearly to deliver top-level service
Recommend retail products suited to each client's needs
Help keep the salon stage-ready and welcoming for every family
Multitask comfortably in a fast-paced setting

What You'll Need

Active cosmetology or barber license
A love for working with kids
A positive, can-do attitude

About Sharkey's
