Job Opportunity
We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) for a backfill contract position in a Neuro Medical/Surgical unit. This is a 13-week assignment with a 12-hour night shift from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
Unit Information
- Location: South Austin, TX
- Unit: Telemetry (Med Surg/Tele 5C)
- Number of Beds: 30
- Type of Staff:
- Day Shift: 1 CNC, 3 RNs, 3 LVNs, 3 PCTs
- Night Shift: 1 CNC, 3 RNs, 3 LVNs, 3 PCTs
- Patient Ratios: 1:5
- Call Requirements: None
- Weekend Requirements: 4 shifts per schedule
Equipment and Technology
The unit is equipped with:
- Welch Allyn Vital Signs Monitor
- Computers on Wheels (COWs)
- Hoyer Lift
- PCA Pumps
- CareView Virtual Sitter
- Telepsych and Teleneuro capabilities
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
- Required Skills:
- Current BLS Certification
- IV Certification (for LVNs)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Preferred Skills:
- ACLS Certification
Typical Procedures
Common procedures performed in this unit include:
- NIH Stroke Assessment
- EEGs
- Gastric Decompression
- Wound Care

Dress Code
Uniforms should consist of Navy scrubs. Please note that hoop nose piercings are not allowed.
