Truck Technician

Foley Equipment is the authorized Caterpillar dealer in Kansas and NW Missouri. Truck Technician is primarily responsible for troubleshooting, servicing and repairing on-highway trucks to ensure the customer receives maximum value for work performed. Pay: $24.62 to $58.30/hr

What You Will Do in This Role:
  • Perform all levels of repair and preventative maintenance for on-highway trucks
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical repairs and adjustments
  • Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components and test and adjust assemblies with minimal supervision
  • Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers on their repairs
  • Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.
Physical & Working Requirements
  • This role involves hands-on mechanical work in a shop environment. The employee must be able to perform essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions may include:
  • Safely and repeatedly lifting components weighing up to 115 pounds without assistance
  • Safely lifting, carrying, and lowering components weighing up to 65 pounds without assistance
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, and carrying of heavy materials
  • Climbing on and off equipment and working at varying heights
  • Standing, bending, and working in physically demanding positions for extended periods
  • Safely operating tools and equipment
Our Ideal Candidate:
  • Basic mechanical knowledge including electrical and hydraulics
  • General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments
  • Knowledge of use of various on-highway trucks
  • Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications
  • Valid Class A CDL or B CDL or the ability to obtain one
What Will Put You Ahead:
  • Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry (specifically with Class 8 trucks)
  • Stable work history
  • All makes and models of engine rebuilds
  • Class A CDL
