Job Description
Licensed Practical Nurse - Correctional Health

Schedule

Shifts available in the days, afternoons, and evenings.

Assignment Details

Contract length: 26-52 weeks.

Requirements

• Valid New York State LPN license or limited permit required.
• Mandatory BLS certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience required.
• Experience in medical-surgical, ambulatory care, or mental health preferred.
• Must be able to work with a diverse offender population and remain composed in emergencies.
• COVID-19 vaccination required; medical exemptions only.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, including controlled substances.
• Perform vital signs and basic physical assessments.
• Provide wound care and dressings.
• Administer IM/SQ injections and manage NG/G-tube feeding.
• Care for Foley catheters and provide oxygen administration.
• Communicate patient status changes to RN/MD and respond to emergencies.

Compliance / Notes

Must clear state Criminal History Form prior to start (may take up to 4 weeks).
