Supervising Pharmacist - Fredericksburg, Virginia

An acute care hospital in Fredericksburg, VA is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager to lead their Outpatient Infusion Pharmacy specializing in oncology care. This contract-to-hire opportunity offers a chance to manage and staff a dynamic team supporting cancer treatment infusion services within a well-established healthcare facility.


Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations of the outpatient infusion pharmacy, managing a staff of 2-3 pharmacists and 3 technicians, and ensuring safe and accurate preparation of IV and chemotherapy medications. The manager will focus on operational leadership rather than PIC duties, with hours scheduled between 7:30 am and 4:30 pm. On-call and weekend coverage are not required, providing a balanced work schedule.


Key Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid Virginia Pharmacist license required
• Strong background in IV compounding and chemotherapy preparation
• Experience managing pharmacy staff and workflows in an outpatient infusion setting
• Familiarity with pharmacy information systems, preferably Epic
• Knowledge of automated dispensing systems, specifically Pyxis
• Ability to work independently with minimal PRN staffing support

Location: Fredericksburg, VA


Schedule:

• Typical shift from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
• Pharmacy operational hours: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm
• No on-call or weekend responsibilities
