Optical Sensing HW - Electrical EngineerThe Sensing Systems team integrates optical, capacitive, MEMS, and magnetic sensors across a variety of Apple products such as the Apple Watch, iPhone, iPad, and more. The Optical Sensing team is looking for electrical engineers with analog, board-level design experience and is a hard-working go-getter. Experience with photodiode front-ends, LED/VCSEL drivers, and basic optics is a plus.You will design, develop, and launch next-generation optical sensing technologies. You will analyze data to draw conclusions, enhance product design and manufacturability, and drive failure analysis. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams - including Optical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Process Engineers, Reliability Engineers, Test Engineers, and Software Engineers-to deliver state-of-the-art sensing.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop the optical sensing systemSystem-level prototyping, integration, characterization and end-to-end validationSchematic design of boards and flexible assembliesConduct failure mode analysis, root-cause diagnosis, and system-level problem-solving; execute engineering builds and drive cross-functional communication to enhance product design and manufacturabilityBusiness travel up to 10% as requiredMinimum QualificationsElectrical engineering background in analog and mixed-signal system-level circuit design, sensor design, modeling, and analog circuit simulations experiencesHands-on experience with board-level circuit design and lab equipment (microscopes, detector, light sources etc)Scripting experience for data analysis and automationMinimum requirement of a bachelors degreePreferred QualificationsOptical Sensor and systems integration experience preferredExperience in ANSYS, SPICE, or similar simulation and modeling toolsExperience supporting volume manufacturing, including test design, failure analysis, and statisticalExcellent written and verbal communication skills and solid collaboration and leadership skillsStrong teamwork abilities and self-motivation to tackle technical challengesMS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, OpticsPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $129,300 and $225,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
