Bus DriverTo provide safe and efficient transportation to the students of the South Euclid Lyndhurst SchoolsEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMake daily PRE-TRIP INSPECTION of the school bus before leaving storage to complete the inspection form.Report all mechanical defects.Keeps the school bus clean including daily sweeping.Has a working time piece when driving the bus.Demonstrates appropriate skills when driving the bus.Complies with all traffic laws.Carries out current Ohio Pupil Transportation Operation and Safety Rules.Carries out current South Euclid Lyndhurst Schools policies.Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor of Transportation/Director of Business Affairs, or the Superintendent/DesigneeOther Knowledge, Skills, and ResponsibilitiesAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community.Ability to perform duties with awareness that the Board of Education policies and procedures are the governing rules and regulations.Demonstrates and fosters respect by building trust through cooperation and mutual respect.Maintains respect at all times for confidential information.Ability to deal with problems in a variety of situations.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Ability to add, subtract, and multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of district.Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students.Ability to read and understand maps.Ability to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, physical and training program.Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form.Ability to perform duties with awareness that the Board of Education policies and procedures are the governing rules and regulations.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentA BCI/FBI background check free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment.Valid CDL Drivers licenseMust pass Ohio state skill Test and written testMust have no (0) points on your driving recordRegistration with ODEW and the Rapback SystemMust pass physical and drug testPreferred QualificationsExperience working in a school or educational settingExperience working with diverse student populations and community groupsAdditional Working ConditionsOccasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissueOccasional interaction with unruly studentsOccasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditionsOccasional working situations under inclement weather conditionsPhysical Demands & Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees and occasionally will walk on slippery surfaces. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with public and other workers. The employee has direct responsibility for the safety and well-being of others. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud to where you have to raise your voice to be heard.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit and occasionally required to walk or stand. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk while performing the duties of this job. The employee frequently repeats the same hand, arm or finger motion many times. The employee frequently uses hand strength to grasp tools. And is continuously driving on the job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds such as a student.
