Cost Manager - Commercial Construction

We are seeking an experienced Cost Manager to support the successful delivery of commercial construction projects from pre-construction through to completion. This role will suit a commercially focused professional with strong cost control, contract administration and stakeholder management skills, who can provide accurate financial insight and help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and maintaining detailed cost plans, budgets, forecasts and cash-flow projections; reviewing tender documentation, pricing and subcontractor returns; and supporting procurement and contract negotiations. You will monitor project costs, commitments, variations, valuations, payments and final accounts, ensuring accurate reporting and timely identification of commercial risks. The role will also involve reviewing progress against budget and programme, producing regular cost reports, managing change control processes and providing clear recommendations to project teams and senior stakeholders. You will work closely with contractors, consultants, suppliers and internal departments to resolve commercial issues and maintain effective cost governance throughout the project lifecycle.


Applicants should have proven experience in cost management, quantity surveying or commercial management within the construction sector, ideally across commercial, office, retail, industrial or mixed-use developments. A relevant degree or professional qualification in quantity surveying, construction management, commercial management or a related discipline is desirable. Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, estimating, cost planning and financial reporting is essential, along with excellent numerical, analytical and negotiation skills. You should be confident using spreadsheets and cost-management systems, able to interpret technical information, and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be organised, commercially aware and proactive, with a collaborative approach and strong attention to detail.
