Machinist

Location: Salisbury, North Carolina | Schedule: Full-time, on-site | Compensation: $25-29/hour (approximately $25,000-$29,000 annualized) Overview An established manufacturer of large equipment is seeking a skilled Machinist to join its production team. In this role, you will set up and operate both CNC and manual machine tools, lathes, and mills to produce precision parts in a low-volume work environment, collaborating closely with fabrication, welding, assembly, and scheduling teams to keep jobs on track and meet quality standards. What you'll do Set up and operate CNC and manual mills, lathes, and related machine tools to produce parts to print specifications Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work orders to determine dimensions, tolerances, and machining sequence Select appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and work-holding methods for each job Write, change, and prove out all CNC programs; troubleshoot and adjust programs to correct issues during production runs Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.) to verify conformance to specifications Report equipment issues promptly Coordinate with fabrication, weld, and assembly supervisors to keep parts flowing on schedule Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop safety standards Accurately document completed work, scrap, and downtime as required Required qualifications 3-5 years of hands-on experience operating CNC and manual machine tools in a manufacturing or job shop environment Experience with setting up and running lathes and mills, working with low-volume work Strong ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings, including GD&T basics Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and quality inspection methods Working knowledge of CNC setup and program editing Solid understanding of speeds, feeds, tooling selection, and materials (steel, aluminum, and similar) Strong math and problem-solving skills; attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production setting High school diploma or equivalent required Hands-on experience setting up CNC and manual machines in a job shop environment Preferred qualifications Fanuc or similar controls experience preferred Machining certification or technical training a plus Compensation and benefits $25-29/hour (approximately $25,000-$29,000 annualized) Why this role This position offers the opportunity to work hands-on with precision machining in a collaborative, low-volume production environment where your craftsmanship directly supports the manufacture of large-scale equipment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
