We are seeking an experienced Aurora PostgreSQL Database Administrator to support database migration, performance tuning, replication, high availability, and production database operations within AWS environments . The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, database migration technologies, PostgreSQL performance optimization, replication, and AWS cloud services .
The candidate will be responsible for supporting database migrations from various platforms to Aurora PostgreSQL, ensuring database performance, availability, reliability, and operational stability in production environments.
Key Responsibilities-
Administer and support Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS RDS database environments.

Design, execute, and support database migrations from platforms such as Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL/MariaDB, Db2 , or similar database technologies to Aurora PostgreSQL.

Utilize AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for full-load and Change Data Capture (CDC) migrations.

Perform AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)/DMS Schema Conversion activities and resolve schema compatibility issues during migration.
-
Conduct migration validation, data reconciliation, cutover planning, production cutovers, and rollback activities.
-
Perform advanced PostgreSQL performance tuning and query optimization .
-
Analyze database performance using tools and utilities such as EXPLAIN ANALYZE, pg_stat_activity, and pg_stat_statements .
-
Optimize indexes, queries, and database configurations to improve performance and scalability.
-
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to MVCC, locking, VACUUM/autovacuum, WAL, and database resource utilization .
-
Configure and manage Aurora Replicas, logical replication, replication slots, WAL retention, failover, and high-availability solutions .

Monitor database health, performance, availability, and capacity across production environments.

Utilize AWS CloudWatch and Database Insights for database monitoring and performance analysis.

Work with AWS services including IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager, VPC, backups, snapshots, and point-in-time recovery .

Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Bash/Shell, SQL, and AWS CLI/SDK .

Support production database incidents, troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and emergency issues.

Participate in after-hours production migrations, cutovers, and critical database support activities as required.

Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, development, and engineering teams to ensure successful database deployments and migrations.

Develop and maintain database documentation, operational procedures, migration plans, and troubleshooting guides.

Ensure database environments meet organizational standards for security, availability, performance, and recoverability.

5+ years of experience in Database Administration, Database Engineering, or a closely related field.
-
Strong hands-on experience with Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL and AWS RDS .
-
Strong experience supporting PostgreSQL databases in AWS cloud environments .

Hands-on experience migrating databases from one or more of the following platforms:

Oracle

Other relational database platforms

Strong experience with AWS DMS , including:
