Position Details:

• This position will be In-Office

• Monday - Friday, Swing Shift

• The hiring range for this role is typically between $29.00 and $39.00 an hour, with the full range extending to $48.00 an hour based on experience, internal equity, and career progression

• Swing shift qualifies for a $1 shift differential

Primary Function:

The Robot Technician is responsible for the on-site maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of robotic systems, diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and control-system faults and restoring equipment to full operational condition with minimal downtime. In addition to performing corrective and preventive maintenance, this role helps establish, document, and refine service procedures to ensure consistency, safety, and quality across field repair activities. This role bridges the gap between deployed hardware and engineering support, serving as a primary technical point of contact in the field and providing operational guidance to site personnel to ensure the safe and reliable performance of the robotic fleet.

Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on robotic systems and associated mechanical, electrical, and control-system components

• Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, software, and controls-related issues to identify root causes and restore equipment to operational condition

• Execute repairs, adjustments, component replacements, and routine equipment checks in accordance with established procedures and technical documentation

• Establish, document, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs), maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting workflows

• Serve as a technical point of contact for robotic systems in the field, providing operational guidance and support to site personnel

• Ensure adherence to established maintenance, safety, and operational procedures, identifying and correcting deviations when necessary

• Collaborate with engineering, data, and other technical teams to troubleshoot issues, communicate field findings, and support system improvements

• Provide detailed feedback on equipment performance, recurring issues, system reliability, and potential design or process improvements

• Assist with system installation, setup, commissioning, shutdown, and relocation activities as needed

• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, equipment conditions, and recurring issues

• Support safe and reliable operation of robotic systems by following applicable safety procedures and maintaining a clean and organized work area

• Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences

Education and Experience: (Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or an associate degree in robotics, automation, electronics, mechatronics, or a related field preferred

• Minimum of 2 years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, or operating complex mechanical, electrical, robotic, or automated systems

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical systems using a structured, methodical approach

• Working knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical systems, sensors, actuators, motors, and/or industrial controls

• Experience working with robotics, automation, electromechanical systems, or other complex technical equipment preferred

• Experience using diagnostic tools, test equipment, technical documentation, schematics, and/or wiring diagrams

• Linux experience preferred, particularly for basic system diagnostics, command-line troubleshooting, or running scripts

• Basic coding or scripting experience, particularly Python, preferred

• Ability to read, understand, and follow technical documentation, procedures, schematics, and troubleshooting guides

• Demonstrated ability to create, refine, and follow procedural and maintenance documentation

• Strong attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot problems methodically while minimizing equipment downtime

• Ability to learn new technologies, systems, and software and adapt to changing technical requirements

• Strong written and verbal English language communication skills

• Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers, technicians, site personnel, and other stakeholders

• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, both within and outside one's own work group.

• Ability to work independently in a field environment and appropriately escalate issues when additional engineering or technical support is needed

Work Environment

Standard lab/production environment. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients, or suppliers. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
