Rental/Retail Specialist

Special Events Alaska | Southcentral Alaska

Expected Schedule: Monday, Wednesday–Saturday
Full-Time | Occasional evenings and additional hours during busy event periods

Special Events Alaska is an event rental company that helps make weddings, corporate events, fairs, and other celebrations happen. We rent tents, tables, chairs, linens, lighting, balloons, décor, and more, and we handle everything from getting the equipment ready to delivering and setting it up.

We're looking for a Rental/Retail Specialist to work in our store and rental department. This is a hands-on position for someone who likes working with people, staying busy, keeping things organized, and figuring things out when something doesn't go as planned.

You'll work directly with customers, help them choose what they need for their events, handle rental orders, help with balloons and décor, keep the store organized, and work with the rest of our team to make sure orders are ready to go.

What You'll Do

• Help customers choose the right rentals and products for their events
• Answer customer questions by phone, email, and in person
• Enter and manage rental orders using our rental management software
• Help customers with rental reservations, changes, pickups, and returns
• Help coordinate rental schedules and communicate with our delivery and setup crew
• Keep track of rental inventory and make sure equipment is ready for upcoming orders
• Clean, organize, and prepare rental equipment when needed
• Keep the showroom, retail area, and rental inventory clean and organized
• Help receive and organize incoming products and vendor orders
• Work with vendors when needed to check availability, place orders, or resolve issues
• Help customers put together rentals that fit their event, budget, and overall look
• Work with the rest of the team to get orders ready for weddings, fairs, corporate events, and other large events
• Help solve customer problems and find solutions when plans change
• Look for ways to make the store and rental process easier and more organized

Balloons & Creative Services

Balloons are becoming an important part of what we offer, and we'd like this person to help us continue building that side of the business.

• Help customers choose balloon décor for weddings, birthdays, corporate events, grand openings, fairs, and other events
• Create balloon arrangements, garlands, arches, and other balloon décor
• Take balloon orders and keep track of balloon supplies and inventory
• Help customers choose colors, styles, and designs that fit their event
• Help create new balloon and décor options that we can offer customers
• Keep the balloon and décor area clean, organized, and ready for customers

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is reliable, friendly, organized, and willing to jump in and help wherever needed.

This isn't a job where you'll sit at a desk all day. Some days you'll be helping a couple figure out what they need for their wedding, other days you'll be working on balloon décor, organizing inventory, answering phones, or helping get rental orders ready for a weekend event.

Qualifications

• Good customer service and communication skills
• Friendly and comfortable working with customers
• Organized and able to keep track of multiple orders and tasks
• Good at solving problems and figuring things out
• Comfortable using computers and learning new software
• Positive attitude and good work ethic
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Comfortable working in a busy environment where things can change quickly
• Previous retail, rental, hospitality, or event experience is a plus
• Experience with rental management software is a plus
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid driver's license preferred
• Available to work Monday and Wednesday–Saturday
• Able to work occasional evenings or additional hours during busy event periods

What It's Like Working Here

Every day is a little different. You might spend the morning helping a couple figure out what they need for their wedding, make some balloon décor in the afternoon, and then help get rental orders ready for a weekend event.

We work hard, stay pretty busy, and have a lot of moving parts. We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, shows up ready to get things done, and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty when needed.
