Job Summary Starting Rate: $31.43/hour. We offer a $10,000 sign‑on bonus to welcome you to our team. Position Overview The Medical Laboratory Scientist I, in their role as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, is responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting waived and non‑waived test results. Under general supervision, the individual performs only those tests authorized by the laboratory manager that require a degree of skill commensurate with their education, training, or experience. Does this position require patient care? No. Essential Functions After successful completion of orientation, training, and competency assessment on all applicable instruments/methods, follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results. Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples. Adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies; document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed. Follow the laboratory’s established corrective action policies whenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s acceptable performance levels. Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and correct the problems or notify the appropriate supervisor; document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from performance specifications. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or Laboratory Sciences is required. Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials: Medical Technologist (ASCP) – American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP‑BOC) preferred. Experience 1–2 years of laboratory experience required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Basic understanding of laboratory equipment, its operation, maintenance, and repair, and analytic techniques. Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment. Attention to detail and adherence to written protocols; communicate with supervisors when issues are identified. Ability to perform as a team member. Excellent interpersonal skills. Professional and effective interaction with physicians, hospital personnel, employees, and patients.
